Prof. Sabine Döring, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (German: BMBF)
The Green ICT Award is an excellent opportunity to inspire students for sustainability in the field of microelectronics and to give talented researchers a platform to present their developments to the industry.
The Green ICT Award was presented for the first time at the MST Congress in October 2023 as part of the "Green ICT @ FMD" project to recognize bachelor's and master's theses on resource-saving information and communication technology (ICT). The award was endowed with prize money totaling 4000 euros.
Congratulations to the winners!
1st place: Kareem Mansour (University of Freiburg)
Master's thesis: "Design and Implementation of a Highly Efficient Bidirectional DC-DC Converter for Multi-Phase Control of Capacitive Loads"
2nd place: Alexander Maximilian Busch (HAW Hamburg)
Bachelor's thesis: "Power Consumption Models for Sustainability in Wireless Communication Systems"
3rd place: Tuğana Ceren Aslan (TU Berlin)
Master's thesis: "Climate Neutral Data Centers by 2030 – An evaluation of influential parameters based on a scenario analysis"
The award is intended to help raise students' awareness of resource conservation at an early stage. This is important to initiate a sustainable paradigm shift and use microelectronics to make a significant contribution to saving energy and thus reducing CO2-emissions.
