On October 16, 2024, outstanding theses in the field of sustainable information and communication technologies (ICT) were awarded the "Green ICT Award 2024", of the Research Fab Microelectronics Germany (FMD) (find the seperate press release here).

The award-winning work impressively demonstrates how technological innovations not only increase efficiency, but also make an important contribution to environmental protection.

When Dr. Oliver Höing (Federal Ministry of Education and Research) and Prof. Amelie Hagelauer (jury chair and institute director of Fraunhofer EMFT) took to the stage, there was a feeling of excitement in the air. Because what was presented at the award ceremony as part of Green ICT Connect 2024 is more than just pure research - they are visions that can change information and communication technology in the long term.

Congratulations to the winners!

1st place: Joseph Winkler (Leibniz Universität Hannover)

Masterarbeit: »System and Circuit Concepts for High-Efficiency and High-Power Density 48V DC-DC Converter« im Fachgebiet Mixed-Signal Schaltungen

2nd place: Johanna Silja Fröhlich (FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg)

Master thesis: "Algorithm for Matrix Decomposition for Computational Coding" as part of her "Advanced Signal Processing and Communications Engineering" degree

3rd place: Jennifer Goldbrunner (University of Bayreuth)

Master thesis: "Life cycle assessment of metallization processes on flexible substrates"

As in the previous year , the award was accompanied by prize money totaling €4,000.
